Norrcom is Born

Norrcom was founded in 2003, and our first project was to review the network infrastructure at Paraparaumu College. We prepared a report, and the board of trustees adopted all our recommendations, leading to the installation of a highly efficient gigabit fibre mesh network. At the time, Norrcom was run by a single employee, Paul Norris, our founder and CEO.

Family means family

Norrcom have been growing across the country with new schools choosing Norrcom as thier ICT provider. Paul and Christine who started the company are now taking a back seat assisting Christopher manage Norrcom, we have always been a family focused business and believe Christopher has these values.

Continued Growth

In addition to our above locations, Norrcom has now expanded into Palmerston North, New Plymouth & Hawkes Bay, allowing us to better serve clients across the country.

New Office – Team of 8

From our new offices at Kapiti lights, Norrcom had a permanent base from which to deliver ICT solutions. By this point, we had grown more than 100% per year and were focused on establishing efficient processes and procedures. The hard work and dedication of our initial team was crucial to our success and helped lay the foundation for the company we are today. Without their tireless efforts and can-do attitude, we would not have achieved the level of success we have.

And then to BOP

Golden Sands school chose Norrcom as their preferred ICT provider, leading us to expand our operations into the Bay of Plenty region. We were able to assist Golden Sands with their new building project and have developed a strong working relationship with their team. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve Golden Sands and are proud of the partnership we have built with them.

Expansion to Auckland

Norrcom was chosen as the provider for Stonefields school in Auckland and established a branch in the region, with Dip heading up the team. We are grateful to Stonefields for taking a chance on us and to Sarah and the team for their efforts in making our expansion into Auckland a success.

WiFi Linking schools

Norrcom revolutionized the way WiFi was delivered by implementing a community-wide mesh network to support schools across the region. We installed various repeaters and custom access points at Kapiti College, Paraparaumu College, Waikanae Primary, Raumati South, Kapanui, and Paekakariki, effectively linking these schools and ensuring reliable internet access.
2009

Word gets out about Norrcom

At this point, Norrcom was well on its way to establishing itself as a leader in providing affordable and open computer systems. We rejected the traditional "lock-down, superior" approach and instead adopted a philosophy of self-empowerment through education and explanation. This philosophy, which is still at the heart of our business today, is based on the simple principle of treating others as you would want to be treated yourself.
2007

Community WiFi

Norrcom was gaining a reputation as the premier choice for ICT services in the region. As our team continued to grow, we implemented the first school-based community WiFi on the Kapiti coast, using solar panels and marine batteries to link schools from Otaki to Paekakariki and sharing the internet load to save on costs We also experimented with hotspot software to further expand our offerings. With these innovative projects, we solidified our position as a leader in the field.
2006

Team grows to 5

As our team and client base grew, Norrcom moved to our first dedicated office space in central Paraparaumu. By this time, our team had expanded to five members and we were serving schools in the Hutt Valley, Wellington, Kapiti, and beyond.
2004

First Customer

In our early days, Norrcom signed its first support contracts with Paraparaumu College, Kapiti College, and Waikanae Primary (we are still proudly serving these customers today). We also began working with several businesses based in Wellington. To accommodate our growing team, we established our first office and recruited our first engineer.
