Since starting out in 2003 in Paraparaumu, Norrcom has consistently grown and expanded to serve various regions across the country. Today, we are proud to offer coverage throughout the entire North Island, from Wellington to Wellsford and everywhere in between. With almost 20 years of experience, we continue to thrive and grow from strength to strength.

Our Story

From a one-person IT business in Paraparaumu to a trusted technology partner supporting schools and businesses throughout New Zealand.

2003

Norrcom was founded in 2003, and our first project was to review the network infrastructure at Paraparaumu College.

We prepared a report, and the Board of Trustees adopted all our recommendations, leading to the installation of a highly efficient gigabit fibre mesh network.

At the time, Norrcom was run by a single employee, Paul Norris, our founder and CEO.

2004

In our early days, Norrcom signed its first support contracts with Paraparaumu College, Kapiti College and Waikanae Primary.

We are proud to still support these customers today. We also established our first office and recruited our first engineer.

2006

As our team and customer base grew, Norrcom moved into its first dedicated office space in central Paraparaumu.

By this point our team had expanded to five members and we were serving schools in Wellington, Kapiti, the Hutt Valley and beyond.

2007

Norrcom was gaining a reputation as the premier choice for ICT services in the region.

We implemented the first school-based community WiFi network on the Kapiti Coast using solar panels and marine batteries to connect schools from Otaki to Paekakariki.

2009

By this stage, Norrcom was well on its way to establishing itself as a leader in providing affordable and open computer systems.

We rejected the traditional lock-down approach and instead focused on self-empowerment through education and explanation.

2010

Norrcom revolutionised WiFi delivery by implementing a community-wide mesh network supporting schools across the Kapiti region.

Schools including Kapiti College, Paraparaumu College, Waikanae Primary, Raumati South, Kapanui and Paekakariki were linked together.

2011

Stonefields School chose Norrcom as its preferred provider and we established a branch in Auckland.

This marked the beginning of our expansion beyond the lower North Island.

2013

Golden Sands School selected Norrcom as its preferred ICT provider, helping us expand into the Bay of Plenty.

We assisted with the school's new building project and developed a strong working relationship with the team.

2015

From our offices at Kapiti Lights, Norrcom had a permanent base from which to deliver ICT solutions.

The company was growing by more than 100% per year and focused on building strong systems and processes.

2016

Norrcom continued to grow across New Zealand with more schools choosing us as their ICT provider.

Paul and Christine took on a more supportive role while assisting Christopher with the continued growth of the business.

While we are proud of our history, our focus remains firmly on the future. We continue to invest in our people, expand our capabilities and help schools and businesses throughout New Zealand achieve more through technology.
